“Unraveled Allure” by Denise Prince explores the glossy, idealized images of beauty found in advertisements. Her work highlights the allure of these images while also revealing the deeper complexities and fleeting nature of the desires they inspire.

Artist Denise Prince

Denise Prince is a Texas and California based artist working in photography, painting and film. Influenced by her exposure to critical theory at CalArts, she is known for working in the visual language of fashion and style photography.

Photographing for clients like The London Times, Vogue, and the W Hotel, she has exhibited at Anthology Film Archive, the High Line, the International Zizek Studies Conference and the LA Fashion Film Festival. Her work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.

Prince has worked closely with clinical philosopher and Lacanian psychoanalyst Charles Merward since 2009. Her work has been clarified, confronted, and interpreted by psychoanalyst members of the World Association of Psychoanalysis, is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, has been exhibited internationally and has been featured on PBS Television.
